北投的名字是因為早期巴賽族認為地熱谷是女巫施法才會冒煙,以巴賽語裡的女巫「PATAW(巴島)」稱之。因與北投的臺語發音相像,故命名為「北投」。對台北人來說,北投是一個能讓人短暫遠離城市喧囂放鬆身心靈的好地方,一出捷運站就聞的到濃濃的硫磺味,沿途擁有許多日式懷舊復古造型的建築,不僅長輩喜歡,更是年輕人拍照打卡的熱門景點。在北投適合用慢步的方式去探索,花點時間,你會發現它迷人的地方。
Beitou is named after the “PATAW” (meaning Witch in the Basai language), for the Basai tribe assumed that geothermal valley fuming is because witches cast spells, and he pronounce of PATAW is similar to the Taiwanese Beitou. To the Taipei people, Beitou is a good place to get away from cities temporarily and to relax your body and soul; no sooner have you walked out of the subway station than you can smell a thick sulfur odor.
